SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the completion of this course, the students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in
the following areas:

1. Understands cultural attitudes, medical practices, or technological innovations, that may
have undermined a mother’s confidence & commitment in breastfeeding/chestfeeding and
how can you help her restore it.
2. Understands anatomy and physiology of lactation
3. Understands physiology of suckling and normal infant behavior
4. Understands how to conduct a breast assessment
5. Knows how to assist a mother with initiating breastfeeding/chestfeeding
6. Understands problems that may occur with breastfeeding/chestfeeding and how to manage
